| Technology in Learning Institute (TLI) |
The TLI will be a four-day, intensive development experience in which faculty will begin a comprehensive training path toward re-designing an existing course. During the institute, faculty members will participate in learning experiences that will address instructional design goals, learning outcomes, best practices information and relevant technology skills. The intensive and comprehensive nature of the institute will provide faculty with an opportunity to enhance their existing instructional practices through meaningful and relevant technology skill acquisition. Concurrently, faculty will be challenged to incorporate new skills based on proven pedagogical and psychological theories of learning. |
| New Faculty Institute |
The NFI will provide a similar experience for new faculty that the TLI provides for current faculty, but will be modified to meet needs particular to faculty members who are new to campus and unaware of RU demographics, students and resources. This will be an especially relevant and substantial experience for faculty who are coming to campus with minimal teaching experience. The training and seminar format will also provide both a framework and structure to help faculty prepare courses and identify instructional strategies as they begin their teaching career at RU.
Opportunities for continuing and extending the work begun by participants in NFI will be interspersed throughout the semester. This will result in comprehensive support for new faculty at important milestones in the progression of their semester and transition to professional life at RU. |
